Oil Sketch: Pianist (12 x 16)
Originally I was scheduled to paint the community Art Festival. Unfortunately it was raining and the activity was postponed to September 30. The paints in my paint box had already been a week old. I believed they would be dry and useless by the date. Seeing my wife was playing the piano, I decided to paint a quick sketch of her playing. It was really quick and took only an hour.

En Plein Air: Exit 6 to Metropolitan Ave. (8 x 12, Oil)
I follow along Union Turnpike by the side of the Forest Park this afternoon and stopped right at the entrance to Exit 6 from Jackie Robinson Parkway. There is a trail almost parallel to the wire fence. When I was painting, a couple of bikers came passing by. I wasn't sure whether they came down the trail or simply through the opening of the broken fence.

En Plein Air: Park Drive (Oil, 8 x 12)
Hi, Friends:
As you may have noticed that I didn't post my artworks as often as before. As a matter of fact, I don't paint as much as before. For one thing, that is because of my spinal stenosis. I have difficulty standing or walking for long. Secondly, because I have a new-born grandson. And my wife and I are providing day-care to the baby.
I am not a pessimist, but I would advise any young couples who do family-planning to think twice. I consider the world to have become more dangerous with each passing day. I mean all kinds of risks. Since he has been brought to this world, as a grandfather, I want to help give to the child a safest and happiest childhood we as a family could give. It is my belief that if a human being could not have a happy childhood, down the road, he would have various kinds of problems resulted from inappropriate growth and development. Therefore, painting has become a kind of luxury to me now. I may go out to do plein-air painting once a week. Sometimes, I would be able to grab a few sketch drawings whenever I have the opportunity.
Thank you.
Weimin

Plein Air: The LIRR Overhead Bridge at Lefferts Ave. (12 x 16 Oil)
I went there this morning because the weatherman said it was going to be a sunshiny day today. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and windy and the sky didn't clear up till noon. Glad I had on my heavy jacket. By then, my painting was almost done. However, I did make some adjustment when he sun came out.

Louis Armstrong Eternity Band
I went this evening to the Central Library, Queens, for the Louis Armstrong Eternity Band's concert. The six musicians made beautiful Armstrongs' Jazz. During their performance, I made the following sketch and gave it to the band at the intermission as a gift.

Air Stewardess Waiting for the Bus
I took a walk in the afternoon. It was kind of windy. When I came to the intersection of Lefferts and Metropolitan, I saw a pretty lady waiting for the Q10 bus in wind. Judging by her attire and baggage, obviously, she was an air stewardess. There happened to be a bench near the bus stop for me to sit. I quickly took out my sketchbook and made this piece.
