  2. As I myself am getting old, I often ponder on the meaning of life in the sunset stage. I used to believe that humans can't live happily without a good health and kept asking myself whether I would hang on to life if I knew I had a painful fatal disease and my days were numbered. I even read some articles in sites like "Final Exit". My anwer was negative. Of course. Dr. Jack kevorkian is gone and people are still arguing about the issue. Someone predicts that the right to end one's own life is the frontier of human rights movement. On the other side, I have also noticed the fact many people don't think the way I do. I am trying to understand what various elderly people are thinking of thinking of it and their attitude about life. I know the old overwieght lady in the picture has a very difficult time crossing the street. Isn't everyday life something like that to her? What gives her courage to tolerate the hardships of life. I am sure there must be different individual situation that makes the difference in people's attitude. Sometimes, hardship itself may provide the courage to live. I will work more on the theme.
